Points Mean Prizes!

The last round of the BTRDA and Welsh National Championships was the Cambrian, based in Llandudno.

At the start of the year the team had set it's aims to be Class Champions in both, now with the points very close it all depended on this one event.

The format was supposed to be 2 runs at Great Orme on Friday evening, (In the Dark!) with 3 Cloceanog and 2 Penmachno stages on Saturday. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out like that.

A bad accident on Orme resulted in the stages being cancelled, so it was all down to the 5 stages on Saturday. The longest stage was a 17.51 miler in Cloceanog main, and this would probably sort out the event. Again, the decision had been taken to use the soft Maxsport rubber, as the stages would be quite wet and muddy.

The first stage named Alwen North at 7.2 miles proved that it certainly was, but the time was respectable. The plan was supposed to be to drive at 9 10ths and try to get the car round, but after a very big moment near the end of the stage, this idea seamed to have disappeared. Pennant (really it was Cloc East) followed, and then to service.

A one hour holdup at the start of Cloc Main did nothing for the nerves, but certainly didn't slow Nik down - a cracking time (22min 34 sec for 17.5 slippy miles). Back into service, and refit the Light Pod and on to the 2 Penmachno's - this time run in reverse with North first followed by South, a quick service and back to the Finish.

Sounds simple don't it, but we had been in the car for 8 hours and done 58 stage miles! Then the key moment Results.

We had done it! - Class Wins In Both Championships!!!!! (I supposed that means two award Dinners to go to)

At this point we must thank a number of people for this year (This is in no particular order), Richard Egger at Competition Car Insurance for all his help, Mark Shaverin at Arena Know-How for his support, the people at Consam, Red Barry at Maxsport, Ed James at EJM Preparation, and lastly all those people who have came out and helped, especially our demon Chase Car driver Lynn.

Thanks everybody and hope to see you all next year.
